Yo Yo!⌗

Well, its been a long time coming of wanting some type of spot to post random stuff. It’s been years of being indecisive on getting a website up and how I wanted it to look.

However randomly in that last few days since this post, I looked into it again and found Hugo! I was amazed with what I seen and decided to give it a go! I looked through the themes and found a simplistic one I liked! (re-terminal)

I came in to this rarely ever using Github before and not knowing what was in store with Hugo. After getting all the pre-reqs done, I started up my first project. I then loosely followed the instructions from the creator of the Theme and eventually got something to show up! There were quite a few mishaps like learning I should have installed the theme as a submodule instead of cloning it locally. When it got to the point of commiting and pushing back to GitHub I got a lot of errors. I proceded to re-make the whole hugo project like 5+ times until I got it to work!

I then learned that through cloudflare, you can host personal sites for free! Also, it was very simple to connect it to the Github repository! The one thing I did buy, was the domain nollerreal.com as it was my name and fairly cheap.

From there, got the site up and showing correctly with the custom domain; I decided to change the color scheme which ended up being complicated. Through trial and error, I had to fork the theme’s repository so that I could change the colors of the presets. I had to take of the old repos and tell git to use the new forked repos as the submodule. That all worked fine, but Cloudflare never synced correctly. I then had to remove and re-install the finished repos to Cloudflare.

And here we are!

There’s not much here right now as I just wanted to get this up and running. It was a fun project that I can now check off my list notedhere.

What to expect onwards⌗

The site is fairly bare-bones still other than the fancy theme and the about page. I want to fill out the showcase with random pictures. Gotta get contact page up, I guess. Files & Links will mainly be 3D Prints, or minecraft mods/resource packs. I want to add icons for socials on the footer text, so I’ll figure that out eventually. I’ll also make posts as I go. So expect more in the future.

I had some old projects that I always wanted to make a post like this about just explaining and possibly discussing with others who are interested. So I will post them here so at least it’s out there even if I did that whole project like a year ago. :)
